It was an early start on Sunday 2nd February as we boarded the train from Berkhamsted to the Spring Fair at the NEC Birmingham.
With 16 halls and hundreds of exhibitors we were in for a long day!
As our first major event to visit we were a little apprehensive with regards to the reaction of the stall holders, due to having no website or any promotional material relating to our new business. But this appeared to be not an issue as the exhibitors we met were all very encouraging and helpful.
We hit the halls in military fashion walking and looking at each stand, and deciding if the items fit our target market and overall item range.
It wasn’t long until we met our first fantastic find – Mrs Moore’s Vintage Store, Metamorphosis range, a quirky collection of birds in dandy costumes this fine bone china tea set made us smile (more on this range later).
After a couple more halls we also found, Bookishly- a range of framed book pages decorated with typographic fonts and iconic film & book phrases. Emily Watson Book Art – Folded book art. Chive Inc – innovative, simple flower vases.
We also spoke to several other sellers – and currently working on a product range with them. Once all has been confirmed we will let you know.
Very exciting stuff and also the beginning of having to make firm commitments and make my dream real!
